Implement more technology to monitor entry of food
The Directorate General of Customs, Ministry of Agricultural Development and the Panamanian Authority for Food Safety (AUPs) signed an agreement to strengthen controls on food income in different parts of the country . Alcides Jaén, Aupsa general manager, said as a preview to this and are implementing the best technological tools for product verification.
Moreover, Jaén highlighted by the Authority for Consumer Protection and Competition Department and the Food Protection (DEPA), Ministry of Health, conducted an operation in some commercial establishments in the metropolitan area to ensure the sanitary quality of food and the sale is optimal for public consumption. Through an online system, inspectors checked AUPSA selected products in order to know whether they have health record.
