Panamanian authorities requested the recall of products that are being investigated by the Food and Drug Administration in USA ( FDA) for possible salmonella contamination. The list is expanding day by day, and between companies in the sights of the entity are: Abbott Nutrition, The Kroger Co., Meijer, General Mills, Ralcorp Frozen Bakery, South Bend Chocolate, McKee Foods, Perry's Ice Cream, Hy-Vee Inc., and Kellogg Company.
The manager of the Panamanian Authority for Food Safety (AUPSA), Gilberto Real said they continue to monitor the evolution of norteaamericana agency investigations. Among the measures taken in Panama, includes a recommendation to users not to use peanut butter and recall the long list of products that are under investigation. Real
announced today, will be made operational across the country to confirm whether supermarkets have proceeded to withdraw the products that fall under this situation. The penalties for violating this measure includes the payment of one thousand and a million dollar fine. Real said it will continue to conduct laboratory tests to determine if the products have entered the country have been infected.
importers will now have to demonstrate that products enter the country, not a danger to the health of Panamanians. The World Health Organization (WHO) and the FDA Salmonella typhimurium responsible for the deaths of six people in the U.S. and about 500 infected. Salmonella is characterized by causing diarrhea, abdominal pain, vomiting and nausea for those infected.
